The Associated Press, in promoting its most recent interview with Joe Biden’s accuser Tara Reade, deleted some of its older interviews with Reade from 2019 and failed to report on them at the time, according to Breitbart News.

The most recent interview was published with a headline claiming that Reade “didn’t use sexual harassment” in the language of the formal complaint that she filed against then-Senator Joe Biden shortly after the alleged assault took place in 1993. Reade has since taken to Twitter to claim that this statement is false.

However, Reade had already been interviewed by the same outlet last year, with the AP admitting that it “declined to publish details of the 2019 interviews at the time because reporters were unable to corroborate her allegations.” The AP also admitted that it has since deleted some of the older interviews with Reade, “in keeping with the reporter’s standard practice for disposing of old interviews.”

Reade’s accusation of sexual assault by Biden has started to pick up steam, as evidence mounts that something happened, including more people coming forward confirming that Reade told them about the alleged assault at the time that it happened, as well as a clip of Reade’s late mother calling into Larry King’s show in 1993, anonymously, to ask for advice on her daughter’s having been forced out of a job in Washington with a “prominent senator” due to problems she was facing.

In addition to creating mounting evidence against Biden, who already as the Hunter Biden/Barissima scandal to worry about, the mainstream media’s harsher treatment of Reade’s allegation has led to accusations of hypocrisy and double-standards when compared to the false sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which the media reported on much more heavily despite all of them ultimately being debunked.

Some Say We Should Starve A.I.

In the early days of artificial intelligence, which basically is right now, many people are excited about the enhanced lives it can help humans achieve. Many others however have warmed of the dangers of this technology. It’s a technology that can theoretically deprive us of our liberty, create autocracies and genocides, and ultimately, turn us into slaves. We have to be careful and deliberate, because if we make a mistake, we make it on billions of lives.  That’s why some say our best defense is to starve A.I. of data.

AI is quickly gobbling up entire professions—and those jobs will never come back. But we are also close to creating machines capable of artificial general intelligence. Machines as intelligent as humans.

Sound extreme? Consider that already all of us are being managed by algorithms. We do not know who sentenced us to them or even the terms of that sentence. What we do know is that based upon a decision made by some AI system about our behavior (such as a low credit rating), our choices are being limited. Predetermination is being made about the information we see: whether a company will look at our resume, or whether we are eligible for a home loan at a favorable rate

Looking ahead, we can be certain that such monitoring will grow. We know as well that AI will be used by groups to recruit members and influence their opinions, and by foreign governments to influence elections. We can also be certain that as AI tools become more powerful and as the Internet of Things grows, the arsenal of the virtual weapons will become more commercially, and socially deadly.

Europeans now have the “right to explanation,” which requires a humanly readable justification for all decisions rendered by AI systems. Certainly, that transparency is desirable, but it is not clear how much good it will do. After all, AI systems are in constant flux.  AI will just adopt a different shape. That’s why we have to put it on an extreme diet. And what does AI eat? Our personal information. So we need to guard it and restrict it by law, because Silcon valley won’t do it to help us. They make too much money off of it. In the case of AI, lean will mean less mean. It’s time to put artificial intelligence on a data diet.

Consider a Biotech ETF

The coronavirus is putting a lot of active investors on the lookout for health care stocks in general, and specifically biotech stocks. But picking them without an expertise in biology or technology can be a struggle.

SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (NYSEArca: XBI), one of the largest biotechnology ETFs by assets, uses an equal-weight methodology, meaning it tilts toward smaller companies, but it’s still exposed to larger players. In both cases, the fund offers above-average exposure to potential COVID-19 treatments and vaccines and as has recently been documented, antiviral treatments could prove vital in fighting the coronavirus.

Moderna is developing several vaccines to cure respiratory syndromes and flu. The company is now working to develop a vaccine for the coronavirus.

“The leading candidate in the US is a vaccine from Moderna, and a healthy volunteer study began in March,” said State Street Chief Investment Officer Daniel Farley. “This approach, which uses a piece of COVID-19’s genetic code, or messenger RNA, has not been previously approved by the FDA, and safety issues are a concern. Moderna has the most optimistic timeline, with the possibility of dosages available for frontline health care workers by Q4 2020 and broader distribution available by Q1 2021.”

Healthcare stocks are also showing attractive valuations relative to other sectors, which might be overvalued. Biotechnology historically trades at multiples that are elevated, but after last year’s beatdown for biotechnology names, some analysts see value with some big-name biotech stocks. Picking the right on is the key, so maybe consider picking a broad group by going long XBI.

Hyperinflating Nations Looking at Bitcoin

Hyperinflation in countries like Venezuela, Lebanon, Colombia, Argentina, and so on is causing a huge spike Bitcoin [BTC] prices. The beginning of recession driven by COVID-19 and the subsequent oil market crash is may be reshaping the world.

The recent meltdown in the crude oil prices is having far devastating impacts on many oil exporting countries. Bitcoin trading volume is witnessing a huge spike in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela.

“We have seen some of the world’s most brutal, most persistent dictatorship and tyrannical regimes have been supported by the cash flow that come from oil.” Meltem Demirors, the Chief Strategic Officer at Coinshares, said in an interview, “Venezuela has just lost it’s only source of revenue, and that’s oil.”

These countries are battling with problems of hyperinflation, where the government is printing heaps of cash, but the price of eggs and milk is reaching parity with the minimum monthly wages. It presents a strong case for Bitcoin [BTC] and other cryptocurrencies. Realistically, the problem is far more difficult, but it’s still making the case.

Moreover, as the U.S. has been adopting a similar approach to battle economic depression, the worries of US Dollar inflation is creeping in the economy as well. The managing of fiat currency levels was once considered a necessary function, but the amounts being “printed” now defy belief and make a great case for digital assets.

Oh ,The Dramatics…

A group of people on a beach

File this under dramatic AF.

A Florida man is protesting the governor’s decision to reopen the state’s beaches by visiting the shore dressed as the grim reaper. Daniel Uhlfelder walked up and down beaches Friday, Saturday and Sunday across Walton County wearing a grim reaper costume.  He was protesting the reopening of the beaches amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Grim Reaper represents death. This is a deadly virus. It’s a global pandemic,” Uhlfelder told WMBB-TV. He clearly didn’t get the memo that the death rate is falling, and over 97% of people who will be infected, will not die. People should definitely be careful by wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing when indoors…but the grim Reaper is just pure drama

Uhlfelder, a lawyer, said he wants residents to reconsider forgoing self-isolation while the coronavirus continues to spread. “People are gonna get hurt and that’s what I’m here for. I wish I didn’t have to do this but nobody else is doing it,” Uhlfelder said.

Uhlfelder tweeted a video Sunday showing his encounter with a police officer who said a beach-goer had complained about his costume frightening children. If the police can enforce shelter in place, they can certainly stop an idiot from scaring kids on a legally open, public beach.
